I need a recommendation for a good Cosmic Charlie. I enjoyed the G'boro version, but I'd like to hear a top-flight Jerry version.

There certainly are a lot of bad ones from the early years. I'd say those 76'ers are the best of the lot. They seemed to struggle with vocals and pace. Can anyone recommend one from 69-70?

I remember the Cosmic Charlie from 5/2/70 being real good. Or was it just that the rest of the show was so phenomenal I may have thought it was better than it was?

The Charlie from 3/1/69 is pretty one good too. I think this is a prime example of a song that gets overshadowed by the massiveness of the rest of the show.

Peace.

Try this one out. It kicks off an amazing electric set.

I've found the '69 versions too fast and the '76 versions too slow. The 1970 versions sound just right to me.

Cosmic Charlie was inspired by the Beatles song "Revolution".

While you're at it check out the Dancin' from this show as well as the whole second set. You will understand why Sam Cutler keeps saying to the crowd over & over before the encore " The Dead! An incredible set by the Grateful Dead, an incredible incredible set by the Grateful Dead.. stand by.." before getting the band out for an encore.

I find the vocals so difficult that I have yet to use anyone but the one from AOX in any compilations, etc.

Love the song, but tough to get it right live.
